Winterizing Armies 1942

I can understand the initial shock the armies faced in Winter. Though quickly they adapted... Germans fought well in the Winter when they prepared as did every combatant in WW2.

In game I feel the bonus for the Russians after 1941 and the Finnish should be removed. Long term thinking being here is when these games stretch into '43-44. Coats are Coats, winterized vehicles are winterized vehicles. Most trucks were Fords in Russia? It's got history and I think it's got merit for game play. If you check the AARs it's not as if Soviets that make it into '43 nearly need a bonus of any kind like this. They're quite OP. . . And their wide track Tanks and people familiar with Winter Warfare is less a factor as the game and history went on or should be I think. At least it should be lowered 'some' for every unit.

I'll take a look at it. The winter effects aren't bonuses as much as penalties in supply in the snow. It was designed based on the SSI game War in Russia. In this game the strategy as the Axis was just to stop attacking, build up to 100% readiness and wait the snow out in dug in positions. If they went historical they would get hit hard. Now perhaps in the 1943-1944 years this has a drastic effect and isn't good for the game. When we get to those years I will have a good idea of what is going on. The Germans should 100% be on the defensive if they hit historical lines.

I agree that the penalties for the Axis in winter warfare should drop as time passes by. Starting on the second winter of the war against the USSR and non existent in the third. At that point they should be on par with the USSR.

That I know. What I meant was that the USSR (and Finland) is winterized. Germany is not. Thus the penalties suffered by the Germans. But is it realistic that in the winter of 1942 (or 1943 if that is the second winter of the Russo-German war) the Germans and Axis minors on the Eastern front are still not winterized?
