Unable to load saved games from single player game. Always the game freezes when I try to load and the game needs to be closed down through the Task Manager. We have tried loading the file with another player and works fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Any ideas what to do?

Perhaps the game file was corrupted.

Do you have a auto save from the beginning of the latest phase?

If not, you could attach the save file and folks here can see if there are any obvious mess ups in the save file

tried several different save files, and they seem to work on every installation but mine

we have the same game version including the latest hotpatch 3.1.0.1

Are you on Windows?
Did you install into C:\Program Files?

Make a MWIF directory C:\MWIF or whatever and re-install the game there and try again.

Found a solution that seems to work but it means I have to start up a new game and then restore the saved file from there.

Next time you have exited the game, go into your task manager and look not only at the processes screen, but also further along the tabs at the "details" screen.

I have noticed that for some reason, after exit, I sometimes end up with the mwif exe running in the background (and sometimes more than one 'copy' running) even though the process screen does not mention it.

That has caused me some problems reloading a save. There is a sequence for closing down the game which seems to stop this on my machine, YMMV.

There is more computer activity in that details screen, than there was in the whole Apollo space program. A good reboot cleans a lot of up, but it builds quickly.
