British Steel - Soviet AAR

In this walk through you are OC 48th Guards Tank Regt., a follow up force to link up with 7th Tank Div, several kms west of Langenseldorf;
more importantly your mission is to make safe the A4 Autobahn that runs east to west throu the centre of the map.

Background Briefing:
Signals Intelligence are reporting heavy radio traffic north along with vehicle and track noise reported from advancing Recon.
Div Sitrep suggest the A4 Autobahn is clear of enemy activity. Bollocks' thought Tokarov.. and Tommy's 22nd Armd Bde have vanished.

Thus: 1st Tank Bn. strung out along the A4 Autobahn in assault mode, (attached are a Plt of Mortars and Tunguskas;
their orders are to stop for nobody and occupy Langenselbold.

2nd Tank Bn are dug in Vordeburg (centre VP) with the bridges being blown. 3rd Tank Bn are tasked to take and hold Verl (east VP).
RAG and Regt.HQ are located around Bollensen. Arty Fire missions to target the crossroads below Bergen leading into Langenseldorf. (cross roads are a good bet to hit)

Bridges are blown around Vordeberg in the centre;
SAM Gainfuls hit LYNX Helos and 3rd Tank BN occupy Verl

1st Tank BN rolls into Langenselbold (west VP), as Vordeberg (centre VP) comes under attack.

Vordeberg assault is brushed off, but a Battalion strength attack hits Langenselbold;

A Challenger Co. from out of the woods west and a Mech Company straight down the road from Bergen.

1st Tk Co. is in a perfect position - reverse slope, smashing the Warriors as they crest the rise.

Fresh assault on Vordeberg is smashed, un-coordinated Mech.. what was Tommy thinking..
Warriors are spotted towards Verl (east VP) and suffer badly.
Bridge readying for Demolition

LYNXs support the debacle at Verl, but Tommy appears to be withdrawing.

To add insult to injury a Lynx is shot down;
Another assault hits Langenselbold, this time from the east down the A4 Autobahn and manage to enter the town outskirts.

Both Langenselbold and Vordeberg are assaulted simultaneously.

… 'this is no spoiling attack' thought Tokarov, 'we've found 22nd Armoured Brigade'

SA-6 Gainfuls shoot down another two LYNXs.

My Tunguskas have been wiped of the face of the earth by Tommy's off map Artillery,
I must admit they have supurb Radio/radar Detection gear...

If the Englanders keep coming at us like this, we have little to worry about. thought Tokarov

Enter the RAF..

Tornado flights pour devastating fire from above, whole Companies are reduced to shattered Platoons..

Tokarov had spoken too soon..

Two!! Tornados are shot down by my Gainfuls.

Recommended 'Hero of the Soviet Union' for them wept Tokarov.

Signals Intelligence report British are reaching critical losses.

2nd Tk BnHQ run down the N292 to get Command for battered 1st TK Bn in Langenselbold,

A challenger HQ is sighted in front of Vordeberg and blasted.

Nearly four hours since first contact, two more hours till timer runs out; can 48th Guards hold...

2nd Tk BnHQ run smack into Challengers that are moving along the N292 - and get wiped out.
but take one with them..

Blind panic sets in, RAG and RegtHQ start packing..

Tokarov can't believe it, the Challengers are pulling back!;

perhaps to belately support another assault on Langebselbold..miracles happen.
RAG are rattled.

Mech Infantry and Tornados smash the Tank Companies in Vordeberg, whilst the last assault was repulsed at Langenselbold.
HQ units are loosing their cohesion (readiness)

Our loses are crippling and we're dying on our feet.
RAG has scattered like mackerel among the Sharks.

Time to breakout the Vodka and benzedrine pills.
