If you are anything like me, you will find the current symbol a bit too obtrusive. So I designed a symbol I thought would fit in better with the overall feel of the map and still convey the idea that the weather has closed down air operations.
Download (51kb) with installation instructions below.
Hope you like it,
Reg.

Great!
But those clouds actually look too nice to me, like clouds an a fine summer day. You should make them grey-black, with rain and flashes coming from them, like real thunderstorm clouds.
BTW, try Rowlf's map mods, for still better effect

Looks good. I like it a lot better. Thunderheads would be more realistic, but these clouds look ok too.

I've applied the files to UV and they fit in beautifully with the style of the map. Nice and easy on the eye.
Thanks for that Reg. Great improvement on the ghost busters.

Sorry, I haven't figured out yet how to make screenshots in UV...

I'd like to offer a different version with darker cloud color, rain and lightning. If someone can improve it further, feel free to do so. Many thanks to Reg for the original idea and his kind consent to post this version!

Nice work!
Concerning screenshots. If you do not have prof. image capturer - download HyperSnap-DX tool at
www.hyperionics.com. Simple and useful, allows to make screenshots more easily.

How do you toggle the clouds on?

The cloud icon is just a replacement graphic for the 'ghost busters' sign that shows up in various hexes during the combat resolution phase, indicating that current weather doesn't permit flight operations in those particular hexes. I don't think this icon can be toggled on/off.

"IF" you've updated to version 2.30, then the Hot Key is '4'.
Make sure you read the PDF file that lists all the changes from 1.10 to 2.30.
(Thanks Slick91. See the thread
How to see the weather on the map? )
Screenshots of UV.
UV is a windows application so you can just use the 'Print Screen' button on you keyboard to copy the screen into the clipboard. You can then use the 'Ctrl-Alt' keys to change out of UV and paste your screen shot into your favorite graphics program for editing.
Cheers,
Reg.

SC & Reg,
thanks for your hints, fellas! I've used an image capturer on my older machines, but this program no longer worked with my new XP system. I'll DL HyperSnap for sure. And it's almost embarassing that I didn't know about this 'print screen then copy & paste' thing, after all those years of 3.11, 95 and 98...

So fellow warriors, if I'm going to inundate this forum with screenshots, blame Reg!
