I know there'ss a very short range of air superiority fighters -- six hexes. Does this improve as advancements are made? I have not seen this so far in early 1942. Or does it stay the same?
Now I note the German research section does not have any research points assigned to escorts (0), so the question is when the Germans bomb, what fighters escort the bombers since air superiority fighters are the only fighters producible?
I would expect adding research points to escort fighters improve bombing results by reducing bomber losses or is there range increased (German long-range strategic bomber 20 hex range)??
And if not, can an option (patch update) be added to the production page to produce long-range fighters as the Allies did in World War II? At this point in time the Germans from France can bomb Southampton and London within air superiority fighter range (6 hexes), but that's all.

I'm not following what you want here.

Escort fighters have longer ranges.
Interceptors have better air to air.
Fighter bombers have lower air to air and higher tactical

That's basically it.

Okay on my own I discovered that one can produce escort fighters by purchasing air superiority fighters subheading escort fighters. At the game beginning and 1942 where I am now, level is listed as '39 with range SIX(!),the same as other fighters. SO what's the real information(?) and please answer the questions fully, this is happening time and time again.
DOES THE RANGE OF ESCORT FIGHTERS INCREASE AS THEY ADVANCE LEVELS? WHAT IS THE RANGE?

Yes. Click on the tech for Escort Fighter, and it will give you the absolute addition for the year. In the early years, there is no/little difference between the subtypes. A 1939 Fighter Bomber is essentially the same as a 1939 Interceptor which is essentially the same as an Escort Fighter.

Again, click on the techs. There is a great informational graph beside them that gives the year and bonuses. It even highlights those bonus' for the current level.

Did I mention you can click on the tech name to get the information you are looking for?
