Yeah just that, I took Gasmata, Rabual and had this crazy Japanese TF Commander run a full BB surface fleet into Gasmata. All of my bases were attacking the Japanese TF but the strange thing was that F4U-1 were attacking my air groups attacking the Japanese. Make any sense? Well it did not to me either, may have always been a bug but just now noticed this. I tried to grab a screen shot but missed it, happened several times really strange.

I've seen this too, it usually seems to happen when my LBA are trying to hit an enemy TF in the same hex as a friendly CV TF - the CVs will actually fly CAP for the enemy ships. It's a very irritating way to have your squadrons gutted.

Strangely enough, I just had the same thing happen to me, also. FM2 Wildcats were flying cover for Japanese TF's off Guadalcanal. The air groups that had FM2 Wildcats were the CVE's Chenango and Suwannee. They formed up with the Japanese planes defending the TF's. Fortunately, only 4 of the FM2 Wildcats attacked at a time and were wiped-out by the escorting US F6F Hellcats, so they didn't change the out come much. I justified it as inexperienced pilots with bad eye sight or very trigger happy.
