Could someone kindly explain the sudden death number in red at the lower left of the screen? I am not sure how to interpret it.

The 'sudden death' score goes up by 2 points on every 31st turn so turn 124 would see it at 8. The Allied scores for air superiority, urban and industrial damage when added together must exceed this total or the Axis win.
It keeps the Allied player focused on attacking targets and gives the Axis their best chance of winning through blunting that offensive and making the Allied efforts negligible.
