Currently I'm playing a PBEM game as Axis. It's December 1941 and I am approching Moscow and Rostow is captured. With the advent of 1.17.01 things in Russia became quite tedious (beside the fact that my opponent is playing well [;)]). It took me a few turns to figure out what has happend: The russian infantry has level 2 and they have the SAME attack and defense values as the germans at level 2. We started with 1.16.03 and russian armies at level 0 had hard attack of 0 - as they had from the very beginning - and all the other values respectively. Now with 1.17.01 they start with atack 1 (and all the other values at level 0 rised mysteriously over night). Don't want to know against what super troops I would have to fight against at level 3 [&:]

I had the same problem as the Axis in a recent game. My opponent's Russians were on Inf Weapons 2 before the end of 1941 and it stopped my panzers in their tracks (see what I did there?) I guess it is possible with lucky scientific breakthroughs but it ended that game. And, yes, my opponent played well, too!

No, that's not my point. It's quite common that the USSR reaches Inf Level 2 in summer '41. BUT now - with 1.17.01 - their attack/defense values are higher as they were before 1.17.01. That means, since last weekend the russians are way stronger. ALL russian infantry whatever level. And in ALL matches which were updated, I guess.

I am not sure what they were before 1.17.01 but all major corps and armies have a 1.50 Inf Weapons defense increment against tanks/light tanks and 1.00 against soft and hard targets. Was it always 1.50 against tanks?

In all versions before 1.17.01 the russian infantry was inferior to the german infantry of the same level in respect to attack and defense values. E.g. a russian corps of level 0 had an hard attack value of 0, a german corps (like a UK or US or Italian) of level 0 had a value of 1. A russian corps of level 1 had an hard attack value of 1, a german corps of level 1 had a value of 2, and for level 2 to the values were 2 and 3 respectively. And this pattern existed for all attack and defense values which can be upgraded by Inf Weapons research. And not only for Corps but for Armies also.
But now that changed over night. At the morning of march 18th this was true. At the morning of march 19th things have changed considerably (I can only guess it came with 1.17.01 and not with 1.17.0 already).
Now all russian infantry units are equal to their german (and UK and US ...) counterparts. All the same attack and defense values. The russion inferiority has vanished. No need to reach level 3 to catch up anymore. That I would call a major change.

You are right, and I'm afraid that this affects all campaigns except the 1943 one (I'm not sure why that one is ok).

I will correct them now, but am not sure when we can get the corrected versions out in a patch.

It may pay to implement a house rule in Multiplayer for the moment for any ongoing games.

thanks for your fast response (as always [:)]). I put my ongoing PBEM game to a stop, because I see no other option. In this Barbarossa campaign from August on my losses were slightly higher than usual and from October on they were rising significantly (but I had no explanation for that until I figured out yesterday what was going on). I am shure other players will face an extremely hard Barbarossa campaign for the Axis side too. Therefore a hotfix is really appreciated.

All SU armies & corps are over strength-ed what house rule offsets that?

You're right, it's 1943 that is ok.

Though I can't speak for the developers, I feel certain a hotfix will bo applicable to the current matches. The bug was introduced to the current games, too. I guess, there will be some symmetry [;)]

Sorry about this guys, we'll have a beta hotfix ready for likely early next week, we'll fix and test in the meantime and the hotfix will include some other key corrections to the game as well such as speedier access to the PBEM++ server and that right edge of the map graphical glitch issue that's been around since almost day one.

Any news on the update? - I have panzers ready to roll across the border and my opponent and I are awaiting the fix so I don't destroy myself against Russian supertroopers.

It would be nice if that happened soon. I have one game on hold and another I'm waiting to start.
