Unable to add new 3D models, several problems

I have created a new model in a folder inside the mods folder as the guide says.

This model is a M10 replacing the original M10. But it does not load the textures from the new model, clearly it uses the textures from the original model.

Another problem. Without a model of example, I have not idea about links or the position from pivots.[8|] At this moment, any screenshot from a 3D program would be very good.

Texture(s) can be added by modifying the uniforms.txt data file. If you have no textures set in uniforms.txt you should get the default texture you set in the Archon tool.

We'll get an example FBX and textures put together.

Thanks by the answer, finally I could add a vehicle with its textures. But I have a problem with the turret. I am not sure about what is the incorrect thing. Perhaps you have seen it before, I have recorded a small video. I have a problem with the turret movement. [&:]

About textures, I confirm it, if you create a new vehicle and you add a uniforms value higher than the last uniform added, the game use the textures added with the Archon Tool.

Hi Nomada,

It looks like the turret axes may need to be changed. TBF expects all axes set so Y is up, X is right, and Z is forward. It looks like for the turret Y is forward and it's rolling around the forward axis instead of spinning around the up axis.

Many thanks Steve by the explanation, now it works. Now I can try other things and think to create some tutorials as how import a old CC map inside the map editor. It is not very difficult, it can be a bit imperfect but it runs.

I have recorded a video showing the addition from a new M10 with the 0.50 HMG.

Now I am thinking the amount of changes neccesary if I want add a new unit. What files must I edit? I have tried with scnunits, Teams and Vehicles and in a first moment I could add a new unit in a new scenario but when I try play it, I do not see the new unit. [&:] Anyway, it is the first day that I touch the files and there are a lot more of things than in the previous games.

If you are adding support units the quantity is scaled based on the difficulty you choose. So if you only add one of a support unit to a scenario you may not see it in battle unless you choose the Recruit difficulty. Or you can add four of them to make sure you see it regardless of difficulty.

Thanks. I could add a new vehicle. I had a problem with the number from the vehicle. Look this in excel is a bit strange. Clearly there are vehicle 0 and if you add a new vehicle, the number is the last showed in excel minus 2.

At the end, one big point, the columns and rows from thw workbook are not the same at 100% than in the game files opened with excel.

A question.
Drag force in m/s/s. How can I calculate it? usually it is showed in CV or HP, no?

The value used is the rectangular frontal area of the vehicle (width * height) time a 0.3 coefficient. So for an M3 Light Tank it's 2.24m wide * 1.14m high * 0.3 = about 1.4. It's a ball park estimate of drag force that is close enough for the velocities that ground combat vehicles are using in the game.

Very useful. I go to write all these things in a faq.

Here is an alpha drop of the latest tool and an example FBX of one of the ingame models. I sounds like you have already gotten the tool running, so you should be aware of the setup and the location of the docs on the Archon wiki. Hopefully this is useful.

Cheers

Many thanks. If you do not remember it, you helped me more of one year ago with the Archon Tool. I had converted several models but I did not know some tweaks as reset the xform in 3Dmax before export, never with a object linked and very important, I did not know the position from the turret pivot. I could add one single model with lucky from the beginner but I had several problems with others. Of course, I was not sure about several other things about names from mesh or bones.

One question more. Is there any problem if I share freely the workbook? I see it as a good point for to get a idea about what you can make with the game and to get a cleaned source from it without reinstall the game.

Ah you should remove the previous shared link because you have shared your complete dropbox.[X(]

Very useful the Sherman example.

Thanks for the heads-up. Windows 10 has a very nasty habit of failing to select things and applying operations to the folder you are in, it is a massive pain and terrible UX...
