Currently playing 1.06. I played WarPlan upon initial release and had no issues with performing invasions at that time.

I am trying to invade Norway and am not successful. I have declared war on Norway, sailed a naval covering force and an embarked 10 strength Inf Corp to the hex SW of Oslo, which is in clear weather. I click on the transport icon to disembark the unit, and the following message pops up:


No selectable units to invade or disembark. Can’t partisan or in garrison status.
Land units can’t invade.
Lack of landing craft, is a partisan, or is in garrison status.


I do have 10 landing craft available which should be adequate to load my 10 strength Infantry. I double checked and the Inf Corp was not in garrison status when I embarked it. As this did not work, I reloaded the turn, and tried the same thing with a 3 strength Inf Div in Denmark, and had the same message come up.

I also watched a Youtube Invasion of Norway video online, and I am doing exactly what was done on the video to successfully invade Norway. According to the recent Invasion Guide posted on the forum, I appear to be doing everything correctly.

I have seen references to a similar problem and message on the Steam discussion forum, but there appears to be no response to what the problem is, except for a reference to the Invasion Guide, which I am following.

What has changed in v 1.06, and how do I resolve this problem?

I did this 1st turn of the game.

#1 DOW on Norway.
#2 load division
#3 move with to the hex SW of Norway
#4 toggle the hex icon with the landing craft which is the same button you used to embark the unit.
#5 right click the red lit hex I want to invade
#6 celebrate with German beer

It hasn't changed. Did you look at the invasion guide?

I did look at the Invasion Guide.

Tried a few more times just now. I still get this message (that I don't understand) when I try to invade with the 10 strength Inf Corp. However, I was able to invade today with the Inf Div, BUT I do know that I tried the same sequence of events yesterday with the Inf Div, and I was getting the same error. I cannot explain why it is working now, but it did not work yesterday, making this very difficult for you to diagnose. I do have IT coding job experience, as well as experience beta testing SC3 and other wargames, so I cannot explain what the difference is between when I did this yesterday, and what I did just now.

I will state that I am not the only one who seems to have seen this message "No selectable units to invade..." as there are references to this in the Steam WarPlan forum.

To clarify Alvaro, I was getting the message at the end of step #4, and I did not get a red lit hex to select in step #5.

I still have trouble.
One has to know that when the invasion hex turns red-orange (easy to miss!!), one has to, I believe, right-click to disembark.
I saw one YouTuber playing War Plan who was totally frustrated because he was trying to left-click the invading unit in!
Clarification should be made as to specific weather conditions that allow or disallow an invasion, and of course, there should be a pop-up reminder to declare war(!), so one doesn't smash one's computer screen in frustration.

The game is left click select, right click action

I'll update the invasion guide to be sure it says that.

I again had some difficulty with invasion
My 'Mediterranean strategy' playing 'Europe Italian Option:' for whatever reason after losing their air unit to Axis bombing of Malta, the British decided to evacuate or disband their ground garrison leaving the island open. I moved a German division unit to the Malta invasion hex along with two Italian naval units. I was unable to disembark to invade. When I moved away the two Italian protective naval escorts leaving only the transport waiting to disembark, I was able to disembark and invade.
To invade, do both ground unit and naval units need be from the same country?(!) What gives?

To my amazement, I managed to replicate steps 1-5 and if I can, anyone can. No #6 tho' as I hate beer as much as I do partisan units.............

I'll take a look at this.

I've followed all steps and when I click on the invade mode button no hexes are highlighted for selection. It' a division and there are 10 landing ships available.

It indeed depends on season. What is the actual month in your game?

Well I discovered it. You invaded in what is considered a cold month which means you can't invade. I forgot to put in the weather icon for cold-rain which looks like the frozen sub but for rain. That's why.

The beta has that update.

i did the list for invading norway..I land a large corp and it took 30 landing craft. I couldnt land a 2nd corp as I had twenty landing craft. shouldnt it just take 10 landing craft to carry a 10 strength corp to land? please advise ..thanks

No because a corps is more than it's combat strength. If I remember of a 20k corps only 3,000 men are actually the fighting soldiers in the front. The rest are support.

In the manual there's no reference to "cold months". Which are?

The information panel only indicates "Rain" for that hex, nothing about cold. It is not just the icon.

So USA can't invade North Africa in Nov 42?

the window for production under landing ships states that one landing point can move one health point of a unit. where is the value for the health points located and is it different from the combat value on the unit counter?
