I've just installed 'Op Art of War IV' into a fairly new (purchased DEC'19) Win10 PC & also installed the latest patch (v4.1.0.40).
All seemed to go well until I tried to start the game & then it froze at the first screen, right after I hit the 'Play Game' button.
I tried running the 'compatibility troubleshooter' & also changing the compatibility settings manually to earlier versions of Windows but it still freezes.
I can't even attempt to load a file or anything.

Anyone have any ideas?

you don't need to do anything different other than install and running as admin, no other changers are needed tbh, this will allow the correct file permissions to be set in the firewall and anti virus program unless you really have a poor version of each, bitdefender, avast and others of the same poor 3rd party game unfriendly types

I went to the Control Panel & checked under 'User Accounts' & it showed me as an 'Administrator'.
Is there some sort of trick akin to the way I have to open a 'Command Prompt'(right-click & select 'run as administrator)?

p.s. I use 'Norton Antivirus Online' &, to my knowledge, have never adjusted any firewall settings.

p.p.s. I just tried right-clicking & selecting 'Administrator' when I launched the prg. Same result. After a few secs the initial screen shows (Not Responding) up on top.

Well, I finally just the damn thing run for about 1/2 an hour & it finally moved on!
OMG!!
I just bought this PC last NOV19!
So much for it's quad-core, eight processor plus SSD config!
This prg really put it in it's place!

p.s. Tried loading a scenario. It's now been almost an HOUR & it's still spinning it's wheels! This game is pretty much useless. I had just purchased it so I never tried to run it with the version that was on the supplied CD. I'm going to go back to that version & see if it runs any faster.

p.p.s. As it turns out, vxxx.11 runs like a CHAMP!
