Unit or base info screen jumbled

I run UV on a laptop running at 1024 X 768 with UV set to 1024 X 768 and when I enter one of the base or unit screens, the box almost appears not large enough. You can see most of the info but for instance the aviation support required and the aviation support avail. numbers are too close to the words and overlap each other so that you really can't see them clearly enough.

Now the kicker to this is I can remotely connect to my laptop from another PC, and run the game and everything is fine. Of course the PC that I am using has a 19" monitor. I do believe this is a coding error in the program referencing the screen width VS. display size. Yes I have tried running UV at the lower resolution but it looks terrible.

I run this on a laptop because it is always with me and I don't want to miss the opportunity to play when I can. If anyone has a quick fix to this I would appreciate it.

I have read all of the FAQ's and nothing is mentioned about this. Does anyone know of anything?

I've had this problem with UV as well as BTR & it has to do with the settings under your control panel but I'd have to look back at my laptop to remember what you have to set under the control panel for it to work. Give me a couple of days unless someone else remembers first.

Thrashman, I looked around my laptop but didn't remember what I had changed to get it to work. I do remember it has something to do with either your display or system settings under control panel. I don't know if I saw the orignal post here or under the btr forum that helped me fix it but that was some months ago. You might want to post there if you haven't already as someone there may remember. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

Check that you don't have some option like video expansion enabled. Most laptops have some version of this kind of feature that works on the LCD panel to expand things to fit because the panel is a fixed resolution. The general result is horrible unless dealing with pure text (and even then questionable).

Another posibility is that you have large fonts enabled in your windows scheme. Under control panel, pick the standard windows default layout and font sizing.

If you have windows XP, make sure clear type is turned off.

Thanks Adm. Scott that was my problem. It sure makes a difference being able to see the actual numbers associated with a unit or base. Quite a bit more enjoyable.
