Hi - I think I understand the rules about which generals are selected for combat (on p.63 of the updated manual), but would it be possible to display the name of both the attacking and defending generals actually used in the combat results?

Yep, we need much more info/report on what happens in battle ... I'm pretty new to the game, but played mostly every strat WW2 game since 3R, here I feel that many things are very vaguely described and not much documented, I find it quite frustating and it hurts my interest in the game, I'm feeling like playing blind poker...

I have played poker blind. It's fun. I play based on their hand strength not mine.

Alvaro, looks like you have broken your code in the latest beta patch 1.00.07U72.

The leaders are no more displayed in the Land Combat report.

If that was from before you updated then no it won't show. The combat logs are written text files. It is working.

OK will check in my next PBEM turn. Leaders are displayed ONLY in the Current tab NOT in the Last tab. So, this is may be due to the update. Will see.
