Total brain constipation. I have done this with previous computer changes. I have copies of most of the mods on this board (RHS-dababes-Juans-RA-LST-etc) plus my own created over the years. All are on my external hd. How do I incorporate them in to my new downloaded game on the new computer so I can run them?

I just drag-n-drop into the scen folder/art folder, etc. for the different mods into there respective install. Its been awhile, but that's how I got it done.[:)][:)]. With RHS, It's new every few days so not much to worry about there. And where RHS has its own installer, I would wait for the new version....GP

Thanks for the come back. Do I have to do a game install for each mod? Tried to drag exe file into my game and got a Fatal Error 999.

I would do one fresh install of AE, apply the official patches and the beta patch, configure the desktop start icon properties with the necessary switches and make a test run to see if all necessary stuff to run the game has been integrated ok in Windows.

Then I would create a copy of the installation folder and call it "AE_Mod_X" - no need to do a second installation. Just drag and drop the mod elements to where they belong in the mod folders.

Finally, create copies of the desktop start icon and adapt the paths in the icon's properties to point to the AE_Mod_X mod folder. Rinse and repeat for each mod you want to use. It may take a lot of hd space but there is no risk of mixing mod-specific data like art files etc. when each mod has its own AE game folder.

This is by far the best system.Problem is the insane amount of space it takes.. There are sooooo many intesting mods to install...

I have actually done this both ways and successfully. And I am not a techie. It is probably better to reinstall the original game and then patch it and load the mods.

I also successfully just paste and copied the whole original game folder and then added the mod in. It took a little bit of fiddling about but I got there in the end.

Best of luck.

OK, I'm at the "Create a copy of the installation folder" step. How do I do this, copy/paste? Will the exe file work after dragging it to a new folder?

Yes, copy and paste. It will create a folder named "copy" or "copy of".

You can then rename the "copy" folder, using the name of the mod it is destined for.

Create one copy for each mod.

Then you create copies of the desktop icon of the original install - one copy for each mod folder you have created.

Finally you have to go into the properties of each copy of the original desktop icon and change the "target" and "Run in" paths to point to the mod folder - sorry my Windows is in French I don't know the exact wording n the English version.
