Don't believe you can stop an attack after it starts. Never tried before....GP

I don't either, I've tried and can't. Odd that you can't though particularly when you can see you've not going to win.

I've had that problem, loosing a battle and not being able to stop the attack....GP

Losing a battle to a pirate fortress on your planet doesn't lose the planet iirc it only raises their influence level. Just build up some troops and attack again.

I usually build a few ship loads of troops from my high population worlds and then dump them on the planet with pirates.

I always have like an entire Army Corps for this job only. 15-20 ground troops, 4 - 5 armoured and few spec ops. They do the Anti piracy missions in most of my planets. They later on, turn out to be brilliant ground invasion force due to the experience...

I've found getting rid is easy when they're still building (greyed out), just one unit (garrison) does it.

You can’t stop an attack once it starts. Best you can do is to try to use a troop transport to load troops while the battle is raging to save some of the units
