I get the message that Germany has annexed Western Poland but it is not reflected on the map. The initial border line between Germany and Poland is not erased.

I see what you mean. Good catch, in Europe 1940 scenario, for example, the initial border is no more there except for East Prussia.

My personal taste would be to keep the 1939 borders always.

I think just the borders are removed.
