Inadvertent airborne drops

This has happen to me before, so I should have been more careful. I was moving an airborne unit behind my lines, but it air dropped the unit rather than the ground movement I really wanted. End result was the unit lost 50% of it's health and lots of effectiveness. I wish the game was smart enough to know you don't want to drop when behind your own lines(especially when you don't control the air space), but rather just move. Is there a way to enforce ground movement with airborne units? If not can we have something in the future to help avoid this from happening to me or another again?
thanks

Like the ground movement of the 101st Airborne to save
Bastogne...
This could be an idea, but it will require an evolution of the user interface. Since there is no Garrison button for Airborne corps, could be located here to switch between the two modes (land movement and air drop).
In the meantime, could you use rail movement?

I've tried to use ground movement behind my lines and have had units destroyed! How else are you supposed to move them closer to a drop area if not by using ground movement?

It should walk the distance it can and only fly when it is over that distance.
But apparently after testing it doesn't do that. I'll put it on my fix list.
