For repairing land units, do you know if there is any advantage to be in one hexes "main supply" with a supply of 9 compared to a supply of 8? Any opinion?

None. That would make the current intricate system overly complex.

Perfect, I was just willing to confirm there was no rule similar to oil consumption.

The oil rule is simple to remember. If you are on a rail you don't consume the tiny amount of oil. It's micro-manageable, but not tedious, but makes very little impact.
