Problem with 3.2

In my current 3.2 PBEM game there is a pretty nasty bug regarding LCU's. I'm playing as Japanese and by the time of September of '42 I have already 2 LCUs disappeared without trace...
It happened when I reviewed LCUs and TFs at a same base and game then performed as that LCu was loaded on TF... But there is no LCU loaded on TF, and it isn't at an original base anymore. HQ Units option report LCU loaded on TF, even when that TF is disbanded. So, effectively, those LCUs involved have disappeared from the game...

LCUs involved are Karafuto division and South Seas Brigade and bases were Port Moresby and Wake (not in a same turn). Is there any chance to get those LCUs back? I can't load savegame in editor and put them in correct bases, since it's PBEM encoded :( ... And I really would hate to stop my current game since it is very interesting, but these troops are valuable and I wouldn't like to go on without them (both are highly experienced), especially since it can happen to any other LCU later in a game...

Any solution?

I know what happened ...

Your task force leader done one thing wrong.
Normally - when LCU is being loaded to a ship, the ship must stay at anchor, fastened to the wharf, and what is most important - with one side hatches opened. If it goes ok, the unit walks in at it works fine.
Apparently, it seems that Your leader opened both side doors and the unit marched into sea passing the ship by.
Good thing is, that if that was an amphibous division, it may reappear in Japan after long march on the bottom. Of course if the port was south of the ship.
:)

but seriously,
Are You sure that You haven't cancelled selecting which ship the unit has to be loaded onto after selecting the unit ? It would surely make the unit teleported to cosmic space.

On the other hand, try to persuade Your opponent to sacrifice one or two units using the bug described above to make the game even. We're playing for fun.

Actually, I never tried to load LCUs on TF... Both times I was reviewing my LCUs and after that TF at same base. Funny thing is that there were more than one LCU at a base (both times) and only one was "teleported in twilight zone" ;) . It happened several times more, but when I spot it during a turn solution was to reload a turn and played it "carefully"... I know that we can go back to the turn where the first dissaperence happened, but I'd rather like if there is a way to get those units back...

oakie doakie !

I'll check the method You used.
Maybe You have explored another serious bug !

Just to report that first of my missing LCus appeared back in Tokyo with only 9 squads... It seems that things will be as if they were lost in combat :( . And BTW, I was able to find exact "procedure" when this bug happenes. It will happen when you try to load troops on TF and than decide no to (press ESC). It will be always reported as if the unit was loaded on TF but troops will dissapeare... Only solution to get them back is to disband that TF and finish a turn without any creating any other TF with a same number as one disbanded (otherwise troops involved would continue to be reported as loaded on that TF). After that, situation is if that LCU was lost in combat, it will appear later in Tokyo...
I couldn't find any solution to this bug other than to save game befor I do loading of troops and carefully monitoring if all loading/unloading goes well so if a bug appears I just reload a game. BUT, if a turn is finished with a troops "gone in a twiglight zone" there is no help (at least in PBEM where you can't edit savegame file).
I haven't tested if this happenes with Allies also ...

Happens with Allies too

In an older thread i got an explanation :
Too many units/sub-units filling all slots for units and then loading a unit onto a ship some kind of overflow happens
> maybe for loading a unit onto ships two unit slots are needed ( one temporarily or if unit has to be devided if not enough room in the ships)

hmm... that sound logical to me. But, in that case it could be possible (when the max number of units/sub-units is reached) to display a warning on a TF screen, so player will be warned he'll "loose" unit if not loaded on ships...
Anyway, it would be usefull to know max number of LCUs, 'cause that is important when dividing LCUs in smaller formation. And, is there any way to merge divided units in one larger?

Merging Units

Place the units in the same place and sometimes they merge. But not always. If they stay seperated after a turn move one away and back, either by feet or ship and see if it works then. Seems to be a random event to me ;)

Yes, I saw that happening, just thaught it isn't random event ;)
And I think that merging will most probably happen when two units are from a same original unit, providing that after a merging they don't oversize original max strenght of a unit type (div, bde, rgt).

Units will merge adding all their equipment up to divisional strength - all above goes back to pool - at least with infantry this happens

I didn't know that... than why won't 3 units (all have same original 'parent' unit) merge back to one unit, with excess infantry and equpment going back to pool?
In one game I play this is a situation, and I want to merg them back 'cause I've reached max number of LCUs and can't divide more of them... any suggestions?

they almost always merge if you load them on ships and send them to combat
