Restart at Beginner level. It is very painful to watch.

I disagree. Both have comfortably beaten the AI on beginner level.

I personally find it far more interesting and entertaining not seeing the AI factions being walked over.

Lol. You're not going to believe this but it was about this stage of the game that Tortuga and I were discussing restarting again. Not just because of the AI, but also because we had started on version 0.98 and were having such a difficult time getting going with the resources. We're still recording the series. :)

Great minds, think alike.

I also disagree here, sorry Balto :)

I think it's really fun seeing you guys struggle for every tiny bit of ground. When you win, and I'm sure you will, you'll really have earned that victory!

I was hoping the two would would continue to have discussions about the basic mechanics that are still vague such as Logistics, zone stuff, etc., Because if you blend the two great minds of Das and Totruga - thing would become clearer.

But I understand the entertainment value you are referring to. I did just check back with Tortuga, I thought he was going to get wiped-out. But he seems to have avoided that.., for now.

Thanks

I reckon I've got a hundred hours in this game now man, and I've still not mastered logistics.

I've had to abandon games where I've been winning by a long stretch because I'd overspent on hex assets and ground my logistics into the ground. It's critical to understand how it works but it's also quite complex and it's going to be a matter of trial and error to learn it properly! I personally enjoy stuff like that but I can see some people with less patience finding it frustrating. My advice there is to be very careful not to over-spend: you must keep a careful eye your resources and plan every purchase accordingly. You're generally ok to overspend a bit but if you vastly overspend then it can bring everything to a halt and cripple your economy and logistics train.

.....Unless you are spending on increased logistics of course. Unglamorous of course compared to a shiny new Hospital or Mine but apparently critical....

It's absolutely critical. I've actually restarted on my latest game (and I was enjoying it SO much because it was such an unusual planet with nearly a dozen different types of hostile lifeforms up to 12 metres tall!) because of my own oversight with my logistics and reckless expansionism!

If in doubt, build more trucks! You'll need a lot of oil as a result: on my planet, there was barely any metal but a lot of oil, so that was easy. On other planets, especially if you start in a desert on a fuel scarce planet, you might well have to turtle up and wait until you've researched the more advanced fuel production technologies before being able to expand too far!
