I have not seen fighters attempt to intercept air transports. Both sides have fighters within range and the defenders are set to support with blue triangles. Do offensive fighters automatically cancel out defensive fighters resulting in no interception? Or is there an odds calculation?

They have to be in support mode and have have at least around 50% effectiveness and 50% of their strength.
