I've never been charged tax on a digital download from Matrix or anywhere (GOG) in the past. What's up with the tax on Shadow Empire digital purchase?

I don't currently know what would have changed recently to meant that you didn't see this previously.

If that VAT logic is really applied by Matrix it should be based on the availability of an upgrade to boxed version.
Maybe the OP only bought titles that were digital only?

Yeah, I only buy digital.
