[not a bug] Not all Postures are implemented for the AI

See screenshots. The AI has training posture but the defense penalty isn't applied.
In the first screenshot I'd expected a -40defense, but none was listed.
In the second screenshot where my unit gets counter attacked there is a -40attack but that should be a -60attack
The posture "field training" ability

When you attack a unit's hex, they use their defense value, not their attack value.

Follow up.. in the main battlescreen it lists the posture as only -40% attack.. so it is counted right, just not the what the posture states.
@weaver, still should have given a penalty since the posture states a -60att and -40def right?!

So... What I'm getting from this is that posture attack and defense modifiers apply to their attack values only and which modifier is used depends on whether they're the defender or attacker on the strategic map? Or, just guessing, maybe the respective modifier applies to attack when the attacker and to hitpoints when the defender - that would make sense, it would mean units on offensive postures would be fragile, but still shoot well if counterattacked. Many postures do say "on attack" and "on defense", which is clearer, but Field Training does not have the "on". Of course it's also possible that Field Training just has an inconsistency between its actual effect and its description.
I assume that when the strategem card says it affects "overall" defense, that means the actual defense/hitpoint score in combat regardless of whether they're attacking or defending. I haven't found any of this clearly explained in the game or in the manual.

No. On the battle screen it says 'attack' but it still uses the defense value. The modifier is -40% to defense. So what you are seeing checks out.
If it says 'overall' defense, it means every unit type.

Wich defense/offense value they mean can be confusing.
Taking a example unit:
Machinegun 88 HP
43/172 Soft Damage
22/43 Hard Damage
If their hex is attacked, they use the 2nd value - the one for defense - to deal damage. And 88 Hitpoints to defend against enemy hits
If they are attacking, they use the 1st value - the one for offense - to deal damage. And 88 Hitpoints to defend against enemy hits
You can also see that those MG's are way better defending a hex, then attacking one.
So if that unit would be under the Field Training sheme and it's hex is attacked:
It would roll with 172 or 43, -40% vs enemy HP.
It will defend with 88 HP.
If it does the attacking:
43 or 22, -60% vs enemy HP
88 to roll vs enemy hits

If I had to give those values a distinct name, I would say:
The 43/172 Soft Damage and 22/43 Hard Damage?
Those are the Strategic Offense and Defense values. Wich one you use, depends on if your force is attacking or defending a hex.
That value you use in combat?
The combat offensive is whatever strategic value applies.
The combat defense is your HP.
Both with a lot of modifiers
Field Training reduces the strategic offense value by 60%, the startegic defense one by 40%. This has an effect on the combat offesive value (it is 40 or 60% lower), but not their combat defense value (that one is just the armor).

You are absolutely correct! The listed values are only for the combat values not the armor values. Checked with another posture (all out attack) and the -75% is listed under the attack section. Thanks for helping my understand the game better!
@vic.. any way to communicate this better within the game? The assumption that defense means "getting hit" and not "trying to hit you while defending" is easily made.
