Amphibious landings issue

Hi,
Can someone tell why I am not able to land my amphibious craft on the Tarakan hex in Borneo ? But I am able to land
a amphibious craft on the British North Borneo hex on that island.
Is it a supply issue? the sea squares around British North Borneo are 3 while around Tarakan are 2 & 1.
I am only at research level one for amphibious landing research .

Thanks for all your replies.
My mistake was that I thought Island was one country, Brunei, but the east side is Dutch East Indies!
So yes I needed to declare war on Dutch East Indies.

Quite historical. The Japanese still to this day claim DOW was delivered before Pearl Harbor.

It depends on where you are in the war. New Caledonia was a French colony. After France fell in 1940 it became a Free French colony. Hover the mouse over it to see who the current owner is. It's probably either France or Free French Polynesia.

Platoonist - many thanks I guess i thought because UK at war with Japan - France would be too - sorted now. [:)]

You think you've got amphibious invasion problems? I'm a new player in my very first game. I've just spent several turns massing troops on transports ready for a German invasion of UK and Japanese invasion of the Philippines. Its only on launching my invasions I realise you cannot land troops from transports. I've wasted numerous turns, spent hundreds of MPPs and have masses of troops getting seasick for no reason. I think my game just met a premature end.

If they are regular Transports then you are right, as troops can only unload without a port if they are in Amphibious Transports.
However, if they are in Amphibious Transports then you just need to declare war on the relevant country, i.e. the Philippines, and commence your invasion.

They're all normal transports. Shame, as I spent hours in playing time to get this far and I think I'm undone by my mistake. Back to the drawing board.
