Event strikes me as bs

So I am looking at the "natural born killer in ___ battalion" event.
I can make him a commando (+9 enforcement) or a warrior knight (+10). Either one causes trouble for me.
So, how can the promotion of one soldier have that kind of impact on the nation... yet, such an impactful decision lacks a "none of the above" option? This strains the bounds of plausibility.
And unless I am missing something, you do not actually get a commando or a warrior knight.

You ACTUALLY get an unit feat in such regiment/battalion etc. You have to take a closer look and read the description to know where the unit is going to spawn.
I also dont like than promoting a soldier has a heavier impact in the politics of the nation than other events, I would suggest you to make an balance request on the suggestions subforum.

the troop event outcomes are outsizedly huge, and I really, really wish they came with three options each (one each for the three profile categories) while having their general effect cut in half

You ACTUALLY get an unit feat in such regiment/battalion etc. You have to take a closer look and read the description to know where the unit is going to spawn.
That does help. But I still think you should be able to decline a gesture, at least at a level that the nation is watching.

If everything always came with a nice option for you, where would be the fun?

No need to be annoying.
Lots of situations in life and in games, there is no good option. But when a soldier performs well in your unit, it is odd to set it up so that all the leader's options involve turning it into a national event.
It would, however, be reasonable to have an option to have the unit's morale suffer for this soldier's achievements being ignored.
