FLAK

Just had one of my airbases hit hard by IJA bombers. So I was looking at my defences there. Flak rating on the base was 14, which seemed rather low.
Then I rolled over the units at the bottom of the screen and got confused. There were three AA Units, each of which had a flak rating of about 18. There are two Divisions there. each with a sizeable flak rating. The Base forces each had a flak rating of 28.
That would mean that the port, presumably protected by my own AA had a flak total of 54. The ground troops themselves have a decent flak rating. The Base Forces, presumably on the airbase had a flak rating 56.
So why does the base screen only show a flak rating of 14? I thought I had a fairly powerful flak rating there.

As far as I remember, the base flak number is one sixth of the total flak value of units at the base.

Do not pay attention to base/unit flak value. Allied autocannons (40mm Bofors, 2 pdr) have very high accuracy, but are affective up to 8000-9000 feet. Above 9000 feet, your big guns (75mm,90 mm) have a huge drop in accuracy. Best is to put a CAP at 9000-10000 feet, just above your autocannon kill zone at. Do not rely on big guns to shoot down/disrupt the accuracy of bomber attack, unless you concetrate five big guns per one bomber.

FLAK rating is quite deceiving. It includes AAMGs which have ceiling around 3k, so works only against DBs. And as Yaab wrote, smaller guns have ceiling below 10k, so most of your guns won't shoot at all.

Also remember, that AA fire only works if LCU is in Combat mode, and have enough supply to operate.
