I've tried searching the manual and the game and cannot find the bureaucratic points at all (the manual says they should be on the "dashboard") and word count only in the statistics. Any help?

Great game btw, just started! I'll give some feedback later.

I found numerous hits when searching the manual for 'bureaucratic', including answers to your question.

Both are under Reports -> Overviews -> Empire Dashboard.

That's not very helpful is it? I wrote that I already searched the manual but only found that they should be on the "dashboard" and cannot find them in any place visible.

"5.6.2.5. Bureaucratic Points (BP)
These are generated by some of your more governmentally oriented Assets.
You can disperse them over your Organizations by setting the National
Budget. Inside the Organizations they can be used to Research, make
Stratagems and be put to good use on a big number of other Tasks.

I agree but the game is pretty overwhelming to learn quickly. My understanding of "dashboard" is the stuff you usually mainly use in the game ie in front of your eyes, not hidden somewhere in some reports. Was not where I expected them to be. And to have to search for some fundamentals not in the definition but further on in the manual, is not great manual writing. Which I TOTALLY forgive since the game is basically made by one man .

While I good idea, it breaks down here.

People do not ask for fish.
They ask if there is even fish life on the planet they are fishing on.

Also, there my be no water on the planet. Because some things really do not exist [:)]

This was kind of what I was aiming at ..

I have 1 building (High Command I) that has an output of 10 BP. But in the dashboard it stays 76 and "You produced 31 BP and for small bureaucracy size you received a 45 BP bonus". How is that possible? 31 is not 10.

The service tax produces BP based on your population. You can see the exact amount generated by service tax for each zone under Reports -> Zones.
