Social mobility is too high

Social mobility (particularly between factions) is a bit too high. It's a post-apocalyptic world, travelling is dangerous and you never know what would happen with you elsewhere. I think that citizens should be more hesitant to leave for other factions, but perhaps more likely to cause trouble at home, to balance things out?

You seem to be using "Faction" where it should mean "Regime".
- Most migration happens as Free Folks. People first leave to becoem free folk. Free Folk then "Osmozes" around to other zones
- Refugee events are usually baeed on a conquest or some such.
- direct Migration of population seems limtied to within your empire

So I am not sure what you are talking about.

I had unexplained population losses, with pop happiness at about 40, about 1000 at a time, not accounted in any of my two provinces and not resulting in free folk creation (there were none). Right click just said they left or something like that. I assumed they emigrated to another regime. A bug, perhaps.

Let me get this straight:
You dropped your Pop Happiness to 40, way into the "we are leave" or "we are making Unrest via Events" range.
You did get information what happened to those specific people.
You just did not read or parse it.

And now you are complaining about the game being wrong?

There is a lot of intra-regime, between-zone pop movement. Ridiculous amounts, often up to 5k pop per zone per turn, the moment happiness drops even a single point (from 100 to 99), or because another zone had a mildly incremented QoL value (43 vs 44)

I have the same bug. I know because I checked every zone I had and there’s no way they migrated within my regime. They either emigrated or it’s a bug.
