No roads start

I'd like to be able to choose to start a game without roads. At least no roads within, say, 20 hexes in any direction.

I usually have both starting neighbouring regimes capitols within less then 15 hexes. So 20 would not really do a lot.
The game only seems to do roads between (still) existing cities, and cities and their assets. That limits the roads that exist at game start drastically.

Why don't you just let my wishes be? Obviously it would be good for me, otherwise I'd have said another amount of hexes..
No roads at all is also perfectly fine. If it doesn't result in weird roads for majors.
20 hexes around me is just a minimum.

It might have unforeseen consequences on certain AI types' ability to challenge the player, and on initial difficulty for the player themselves, but this start option existed in Advanced Tactics Gold and I liked it, so I concur. (In case I find myself in a masosadist mood.)

I am just pointing out the issues with the values/idea.
All the roads within 20 are either to conneect to other cities or to connect your city to your water and food income. And the AI to their water and food income!
"No intercity connections" could be feasible, but "no roads" - even just in a range around the player - sounds like a guaranteed backfire.

Ok. In my opinion that's simply for the dev to judge and solve if he wishes to reflect on possibly granting my wish.
I can see numerous solutions: have no major cities within 20 hexes, for example.
Look, it's not going to hurt if it's 16 on occasion.
And the reason why I said 20 in the first place was to take into account that no roads anywhere might be hard for the AI although on the other hand minors do not need to build roads and majors build them anyway already so I think it should be doable without any roads tbh, but who knows? Vic.

I can only repeat:
No automatic roads between cities? Possible. It might not even be a problem at all.
No roads period? Okay, that also means no assets outside the city hex.
Half those roads are only placed because there is a asset that needs connection to the city. A asset without road can not work - apparently only Logistic Points reaching it via roads count.

Oh man you missed a crucial word: start.
I want there to be no initial roads. Of course roadbuilding should exist!
Now I get your confusion.
