I guess the sound of crickets answers your query.

Fair enough .... though I know Si-Fi games have been historically single player and have seen several AE Witp members on this site, would have thought eh multiplayer aspect to have caught on somewhat ....
Pity .... I hate single player games .... lack the adventure of multiplayer games ....
Guess I'll pass on this one ....

Started a game a few days ago with someone.
The initial start was slow as I managed to do a goof per the password process.
Have not heard back & hope he is ok as I have not seen any forum activity by him, recently.
It appears to be an excellent way to play, as the mechanics are very simple.
Do your turn, save & send via your email; or as I said...another method if needed.
I am willing to try a game with anyone that is interested.

Is there any kind of protection involved? Like with Age of Wonders, it tells you if the opponent reloaded. (Even if they crash out)
:EDIT:
Also I think even if people were interested, it'd be a bit foolish to start a PBEM right now, with patches out every other week and the game still having a bunch of issues to be polished. Like if someone had started one a week ago, they'd be feeling really bummed because the fuel use rebalances are coming next patch, which make armoured warfare more viable.

I never worry about someone needing to 'cheat', if I find they are...I just won't play vs them again.
Besides, I have some friends that I trust not to.
Per patches being a deterrent to wanting to start a PBEM game, sure...I get it.
I don't think it is foolish to do so, as the beta patches can be applied or not &, generally, don't screw up the ongoing game if applied.
Hopefully, in time, there will be a more active PBEM community.
Another way to compete via multiplayer is by sharing the 'lastplanetgenerated.se1' file & compete for score.
This has the added advantage of setting a time limit per turns or days (I guess) to determine a winner/winners, allowing for larger worlds to be used without worrying about having to conquer the whole damn thing.[:)]
