Some combat strangeness

I've seen a couple of things in my last few rounds of play that are strange.

Currently in a two front war and just made peace on the southern front. Moved some of my southern units north through previously enemy territory. Next turn my OHQ has disappeared. The units are homeless. I restored to a previous save and moved my units a little differently. I have my OHQ back, but what happened? Any ideas?

Just went through an end turn process and noticed a commander of my northern HQ had disappeared. Did she die in an engagement and I didn't notice? Is this possible? Is there a way to access old battle reports to check? Even more bizarre, having restored to the point of her disappearance...her face is gone from the unit card and the leaders list in management tab but still appears in the HQ management under reports. I can even call her!

I suspect a few bugs mixed in with gameplay elements I haven't quite mastered or understood.

The ghost call reads much like a bug in my opinion.

OHQ commanders have a chance to die in battle (details in the manual 5.8.6.1.). The top bar of the combat screen turns red when it happens, something goes on with the leader portrait I believe, and there's even a « 1 new message » notification (which I find amusing) telling the leader died if one mouses over it to bring up a pop-up. In graphical mode there are many things to pay attention to, so it's no wonder one can miss on such an event if they are not aware it can happen, especially when playing fast.

In one occasion, I delayed nominating a commander to an OHQ, and the next turn the HQ pawn had disappeared. Your account reads as the same happened to you. However, I don't know if it's a bug or a feature.

Thanks. Appreciate the response. I probably missed the leader dying and concur that there are probably a couple of interesting bugs still about.

As much as I am loving the game, there is still a lot happening under the hood that I am yet to grasp.

I don't use auto. You can watch each turn and then hit next. Allows a close inspection of each turn or a quick click for the next.

This is good advice. I've found that my enjoyment and understanding of combat rose when I started doing the same, as you can start to see exactly what's going on (and, still automate for less interesting battles!)

Yup I do that too I like the control and the time to check what happens.
