One of the units that attacked during the last turn looked like a shark or fish. On land. While I realize that the graphics budget must be limited, could we at least have land creatures represented by...land creatures?

In another game, I was attacked by "solacrabs" that looked like space wolves. Are there more creature types than creature graphics? Ideally something called a "solacrab" should look like a crab, or change the name of the creature to "solawolf" or whatever...

One cool thing a user can do is replace most of the graphic files...to include the creatures that one encounters.
I am in the process of changing out one of the land creatures to resemble (look exactly like) the worms that inhabit Arrakis.

One thing I wasn't sure about is whether the creature graphics are just randomly assigned to some generated creature? Or are there specific creatures that get assigned specific graphics?

Good question, which I have no idea.
In the graphics/shadow/sftypes/animals are 11 pics per the creatures that appear in-game.
Not sure if that is all of them, but I will be experimenting for the fun of it.
Though not necessary to do this, it does add to the immersion; & this game is worth the extra effort to enhance it.

Based on the pic in that folder...the shark is amphibious.
There is, also, another folder with smaller pics (11) in the graphics/shadow/siluets/animals.
& 2 more (shadow BIG & shadow SMALL) for a total of 4 images per creature.
So these will have to be worked with, also.

Improving graphic representation of the critters is on my longer term to-do list.
