Ambient sound effects

You could really add a lot to this game by adding an ambient wind or rain sound from time to time ala Rimworld when you zoom all the way out. The game sounds dead because there is no sound. In my opinion, adding ambient sound would be a small effort that would pay off big by making the player feel he was in a living breathing world.

Now, the loop needs to be long, and above all it needs to be subtle.

For those who say you can't have wind sound because it's a lifeless rock with no atmosphere and that's not realistic, I will just say that in the same game, scientists are still trying to figure out Physical Storage (man that warehouse problem really has them stumped), and guys with M16 rifles figure out how to use a Galactic Republic walker no problem. You can shoot holes in realism all day here, so why not go one step further in the name of making the game more agreeable to play.

The GR walker is driving itself. The part where it uses a AI are very clear [:)]

Also, even the tiniest moon in the game has a amtosphere of a 100 mBar or more.
