Here's a quick rundown Mike:
After starting SPWAW select 'play by e-mail', then click on 'battle'. Here you set up your game...which countries, the date, etc...if you want to do the minimum, just choose your countries and the battle date and let the game select the rest. Now hit 'continue' and you'll be brought to the purchase screen...buy your troops and hit 'done'. On the next screen click on 'password', type one in, and hit 'enter'. Now you'll be on the 'save game' screen...select a slot (you *must* use slots 3-12 only for PBEM games), type in a name for the game, and hit 'enter'. To the left of the screen you'll see a message telling you which files to e-mail to your opponent. Just Zip those files (found in your SPWAW\email folder) and mail them off. Your opponent will now buy *and deploy* his troops and send you the files back...unZip them into your SPWAW\email folder (selecting 'yes to all' when it asks to overwrite) . Now start SPWAW, select 'play by email', and click on 'load save'...find the game on the list, select it, and then hit 'start'. Type in your password (you remembered it, right? ;) ) and hit 'enter'. Now you will deploy your troops *and* play your first turn. When you're done just Zip and e-mail the files to your opponent.

Seems like alot when I look at it, but once you send the first set of files you should be home free.

Good luck

I did a search and came up with this

Select solitare and the choose a campaign or a generated one. Then select your core force, when finished the player screen will come up, change player 2 to human controlled, and then continue, then you choose your support force. Deploy them and then quit deploy, then the game will come to the save screen, select a slot and save, exit game and then zip all files associated to that slot in the MatrixGames\SPWAW\save folder and send them to your oppenent, have him unzip to the same folder and then start the game normally and he/she will choose load save and away you go. After each turn is completed zip the save and email back and forth. It takes a little more effort to do a campaign but it will work. Adjust the settings in the preference screen before saving it if you want certain options kept throughout such as limited ammo and intel. The person who creates the PBEM determines how and what preferences are set and the opponent can't change anything that will effect the gameplay. I hope this helps.

This is the thread it came from showthread.php?s=&threadid=21340
