How to deal with corporations?

As if handling pop happiness wasn't a pain already with the crazy maluses danger gives you, whenever a corporation arrives, no matter how many decisions you make against them and how low your commerce is, they keep growing in power and stacking -pop happiness. How to handle them other than turning them off altogether?

If you do not support them, at some point the Governor will "halt expansion of Corporation in the Zone".
However, the Feats they can give to leaders are really good things to have. Indeed, if you put someone that hates commerce on the board, he will still hate commerce - but like every decision that helps the company.

Ever since I started using Cults, the Crime and Corporation rarely came up.
