[1.03b12] Issues with Victory Pact and Victory

49.1 points.
Other Major is at 24 or so.

I finally got Realpolitikers in power.
Immediately offered them a Friendship Pact which they easily accepted (easy roll).

Next turn, as I get closer to the win, suddenly my 'Victory Pact' Stratagem is gone. I've been looking at it for ages wanting to play it after the friendship pact, so this turn.

Vanished without a trace. I disliked vanishing stratagems before but none were this frustrating. But in general I think stratagems should not vanish of their own. Only if there's a clear limit of # of strats you can have with warning that if you do not manually dump some it will be random. But definitely never the way the game is now.

What's more: apparently I no longer have a Friendship Pact with these guys! They unilaterally cancelled it I guess, but I didn't get any notification of that.

What's more, if I want to play another Friendship Pact it says 'this regime's Faction doesn't support this pact'. But they accepted it a turn ago. So that's a bug.

It's really annoying if this is a way to prevent the player from winning. I've spent countless hours working on their relation and stuff like that only for them to suddenly not want me to declare Victory? Victory is purely the game for the human. In the ingame world no one notices it everything continues on as before. So why prevent me?

It could be a coincidence, but it's not the first time this happens just like that at just the time I get to 50 points.

Also, having the other mandatory below 25 means I will have to go to war (unless Victory Pact is fixed I guess?), which is completely against all my previous investment. If they're at 12 should I have to gamble whether they'll get to 25 before I get to 50? I don't think so. Probably should be better if Victory was above 50 and the second-highest has 25 points lower than what I have.

Are the realpolitikers still in power? I have noticed the whole relations and decisions impacting them seem quite schizophrenic. I don't think they should be predictable but if the player is spending time and resources into them they should be able to change completely in on turn without any real reason.

Hi Godwin,

Thanks for reporting again.
There is two separate issues here.
-The disappearing Stratagem. (it needs to have a friendship strategy present, which makes sense for generation ,but not for removal)
-The relation changing after you reach 50 victory points.

I'll address the first point in v1.04-beta1

Should post it in about 2 hours.

If possible please retry with that version from the round where things went south.

The second issue i'll check (reaching 50 victory points changes their relation).

There is a third issue reported by you but I think you missed have missed a message in your letterbox.

best wishes,
Vic

I could have missed a message in my letterbox, if there was an extra turn between them, but iirc there really wasn't as I was very eager to play the Victory Pact. And I checked that turn.
I'll reload an earlier save indeed and see how it goes and pay close attention to the letterbox, thanks a lot :)

If there was a message it should still be viewable in your Decision Archive Report

Thanks I checked and am now 100% certain that there was no message about them aborting the Friendship pact that they gladly accepted and then refused again 'because the faction doesn't allow it'.

I have now tested it and it is still an issue in 1.04b1:

I play Friendship pact, they accept happily:

The following turn I want to play Victory Pact (which I now retained, that's fixed, thanks!) but it gives error message: "must first have Friendship pact". I have zero messages about them cancelling the friendship pact in the Decision archive BUT there is a message in the letterbox:

It would be nice if it specified which pact btw (culture, science, military?).
And it honestly wouldn't be a bad idea to you get a vidcom message about things like these, because they're easy to miss in this spot and pretty important. Not as important as war, but it should still be up there imo.
(I also now know why I missed it originally as I scanned the letterbox on 'foreign affairs news' and it's not under that but its own 'pact decreased', and it's definitely not in the decision archive.)

They are still the Realpolitikers in charge over there, so that hasn't changed either (it's just 1 round later).
