Changing unit color

I just started a new game on an ice planet and chose the unit color (the whole unit "box") to be black because thought it would help on a white background. Turns out I now cannot recognize the unit drawings (also black) inside the box :D.. I'm going to start a a new game but just out of curiosity, is there a way to change it in game? Probably not since it needs to be different from the opposition.

I think black as an option needs to be removed from unit color and I'm not talking about the one you choose from Unit Admin.

No idea on changing the color after gamestart. But there is a mod to make the counters more desitinct with a slight black border:

I'm no expert on colors, graphics, etc. but I think there is a gradient being used on counters. Also a transparency. With respect to formation color, I need to select high contrast colors to make them different enough. The HQ counter is the most egregious problem of mixing color and gradient.

That mod is a must for me too.
