T1, Manila
Karl has made some major landings in the PI mostly at
Lingayen but also at a couple of places on the north coast. I've got my partisans busy blowing bridges. I've had to censor several places on the map because of
OPSEC considerations. I'll post another image of this place without the censored parts after the intel is stale. I'm thinking about flying some anti-ship planes up here to take a shot at the Jap ships just offshore of Lingayen. I don't know what's available so I'll need to take a look around to see what's where. As I recall there's a squadron of P-40's a squadron of B-17's and a PBY group in the PI and I need to position them and set their range(s) for max performance of each aircraft unit. I'm thinking
Manila for all of the above.

The Emperor's finest have indeed begun the Liberation of the Philippines!
I decided to spread my attacks on a number of different locations in order to ensure that any landings are not 'boxed in' by the US led forces and so far so good...
Elsewhere the attack on the US battleships in Pearl Harbour has been a stunning success! They just didn't know what hit them in our dawn attack. Our pilots report at least six BBs have gone to the bottom in one fell swoop but some are bound to be salvaged as time goes by.
Operations have also started in Malaya but it will take a while to get everything ashore and on its way.
China is quite - Macao has been seized but Hong Kong holds out for now.

T3, Manila
Here's an update on what's happening near
Manila. The Japs are marching south and there's not much left to stop them. The Phillippine divisions have a proficiency of
1% so I can't attack with them and they aren't good for much at all. Karl is using this ships to help the ground attacks and I imagine they are coming in handy.

T4, Nuclear Attack by the Japs
Here's something out of the ordinary that happened during Karl's turn. I saw it happen during the playback. I'm wondering if it's going to happen again or if it's a bug or what caused it etc.

T4, Situation in Malaya
Karl has made landings at
Kuantan and
Mersing which has greatly accellerated the occupation of the peninsula. My troops are trapped in the north and will eventually be destroyed. It's too early to tell when
Singapore will fall but it can't be far off. There's been no Jap bombardment of Singapore from the air so far but I expect it sometime soon. I still have my CD guns at the far south port so there's been no Jap ships sniffing around. I've got two squadrons of Hurricanes defending the Singapore skies and there's a bomber unit that's going through reorg at the south airfield. I may have to evacuate the aircraft if the Japs start to gang up on me in this AO.

T4, Japs Assault Johnson Island
Karl has set his sights on
Johnson Island and I've no BB's to contest his action. I've got three CV's but they are scattered over the map: One is near
Seattle and the other two are near
New Zealand so all three are out of place. It will take me one turn to put the CV's back together and the turn after that will probably be too late to influence the battle. From Johnson Island Karl will have the capability to base some Emilys there and harrass my ships at
Pearl. I've already flown a lot of the fighter units at Pearl out to the little islands between Pearl and OZ. I'll have to recall a lot of them to protect my ships at Pearl. Either that or move the ships to the west coast. But the west coast is too far away from the action to be useful. Maybe
Tahiti or
New Zealand would be better. I'll think about it some more.

T4, Strike on Karl's CV(s)
I did a strike on Karl's CV's and sank one of them. And a BB to boot. I suspect he will rally his remaining CV's and strike my TF(s).

What were those CVs and BB doing all alone?

Karl is in the process of assaulting Johnson Island. They are in support of that.

T1, Three BB's expected next turn
According to the expected reinforcements T6 is going to spawn three BB's at Pearl Harbor. And the Guam Marine Defense Bn is going to be reborn at SFO. Also at Pearl it looks like there's going to be some DD's born, probably to escort the BB's. Also some welcome bomb groups. All that stuff will be put to good use real soon now.

T7, Manila
Karl succeeded in capturing
Manila so now most of my units on the island are out of supply and he will eventually destroy them all. My job now is to make the takedown of the island last as long as possible.

Well for me the game is having good and bad points.
In China I am basically adapting defensive position but as the Chinese are taking advantage of my campaigns elsewhere they are gathering to attack so I have to take some counter measures to block them.
In Malaya we are reinforcing our boys outside Singapore for the final storming of the Fortress. In the meantime we are attacking the port facilities and inflicting damage on his BBs located there.
To the North we are on the road to Rangoon but the supply situation is difficult though not impossible. Progress slow but steady...
Wake is now secure but our air patrols have spotted heavy ships incl we believe CVs to the south east. Whether they are scouting or mean to attack time will tell....

Is this AAR still going? I don't think there has been a single PaW AAR that went the distance (or even close).

The game is still going on and we're on T17 so far. I sent some moves to Karl day before yesterday and haven't heard back. But ordinarily I don't usually hear back from him for a couple of days at a time. We're obviously in no hurry. I'll post something to indicate where the game is now next time I get some moves from Karl.

Ah thanks, pleased to hear it is still going. As I wrote, I haven't been able to find a PaW AAR didn't end suddenly and early. It seems like an interesting scenario with many moving pieces.
Am I right in thinking that there is no PO for this scenario?

I got an email from Karl. He has to go to the hospital for some kind of test or procedure or something and he says it'll be about Wed. of this week before he has a chance to do his moves for our game. So yeah, it's still on, just some real life issues involved.
Thomas Harvey has produced a version of this scenario with
an Axis PO but he says it hasn't been playtested yet and it may have some anomolies of some kind. He wanted me to playtest it and I've got a lot on my plate already. So I'm asking YOU to playtest it. I've zipped it up and attached it here below. Please do an AAR kind of report to tell us what you're experiencing. Good hunting.

Ha! I would love to! However, I am on Turn 135 in a PBEM game of War in the East; turn 47of 750 in a PzC PBEM game of Normandy '44 and on turn 35 of 380 in a PzC PBEM game of Campaign Waterloo. Each evening that's about 2.5 hours of gameplay, which leaves me precious little time for anything else. But I am keen to spend more time on TOAW, so I will put it on the top of my 'to do next' list.
I really enjoy reading your AARs (I think I have read them all).

T15, Hong Kong
The Chinese army seems to have surrounded the
Canton /
Hong Kong area for all the good that might do. I have no hope of reducing the pocket with the troops that I have available. All I can do right now is just contain them. Maybe bombard them with my arty. I'm thinking of bringing some British bombers within range to do some Japanese unit plinking. Especially their HQ's and their arty. There isn't much in the way of Allied aircraft on this end of the Logistical train and so far I've been concentrating on defending
Rangoon with it.
Singapore seems to be holding out but only just. It seems like it's time for the Allies to try to expand further into the south Pacific. I need to do an inventory of my ships and aircraft to see what's possible.
