Trade between players in multi-player?

Playing a 2-player multi with my buddy, we're using it as a learning experience so its more a "pre-season friendly" than a full blown no holds barred deathmatch.
Anyway we've "made contact" and I've sent a "trade delegation" and we can trade...but how?
After a dig round the UI I can only assume it'll come from cards or just happen automatically via the private economy?
Very specifically he needs power station tech which I have and am prepared to trade but is trade of tech even a thing?
Thanks in advance.

Direct player controlled trade of tech or resources is not possible.

Allowing trade enables the private economy to trade with that regime. Taxing that trade (with tariffs) is a very good source of money.

There are two levels of research sharing available. First level only shares discoveries, second level also shares the actual techs (gradually). I have noticed that sharing the actual techs can lead to some weird stuff with regards to unlocking further techs down the tree.

And how does one activate research sharing?

And how does one activate research sharing?

Via specific research treaties stratagems (generated only by Foreign Affairs Councils). AFAIK it starting form sharing info about discoveries only then you will able to advance it.

For emphasis, demiare hits a key point in diplomacy here. In diplomacy, specific relation scores must be exceeded for certain results, conditions, and reactions to occur or be made manifest.
