Combining Infantry with different advancements

In one of my pbems I started the game with a number of infantry with the anti tank advancement that I would rather have the assault advancement. So I thought I would be clever and combine a 39 Anti-tank division with a Small 40 Assault Corps. Well I got my wish and the newly formed Large Corps did have the assault advancement. Unfortunately, it also reverted to the 39 Assault tech. Fair enough I suppose, but just a warning to everyone that if you are planning on doing this you should do it early in the game before your units tech up.
