My oppoment is 100% sure that the French escorts became UK after France became Vichy (they were alone escorting in the Med and the UK can now use them as its own).

Does anyone know if this is as intended?

Chimes with what happened. I suspect that lots of french 'escorts' made their way to the UK in 1940
