Does it make MORE life on planets that develop their own species?

Yeah. You get "More" life, but literally more. As in, 35 meter tall predators.

Especially the combination of Medusa Class + Alien Life History Class is to be avoided if you don't like big critters stampeding around.

I hate alien life early in the game when you are still limited to militia. You have to use a large percentage of your militia to control them as the alien life seems determined to cause trouble.

So... your militia will be not so useless like usually and will do something other then scouting? [:D]

Why not start with 1-2 regular armies per zone? That gives you some fire and scouting power, but it is still a horde of Godzilla sized monters.

Does gravity have any impact on creature and plant sizes?
Logically it should, but it is another question if it is actually modelled.
