When an enemy unit is moused over a combat odds display appears at the bottom of the screen. Some of the results are easy to interpret, such as a tank icon meaning a prepared attack or a wave icon meaning attacking across a river. However there are many other displays that are not so intuitive and I can't find any mention in the manual.

One example is a ship bombarding a unit on the coast.

Is there a tabulation somewhere that explains what all the various numbers and figures mean?

There is a table in the SC World at War manual that at least explains some of the abbreviations you see. It helps some, but it doesn't explain everything that goes on.
