We are playing with the version 103C2X

The first Soviet turn has a surprise in it. I'll let the Dawn of the Revolution (News paper in the following picture) tell the story.

As can be read. The Germans threatened the Poles, who collapsed and surrendered to them. I am heavily engaged in talks with France and Britain. There has also been a lot of shuffling of troops to prevent an attack from the Germans happening any time soon.

More news from the "Dawn of the Revolution" (turn 2)

This turn went with little news to tell. The Germans are indeed sending troops to the frontline, which I for obvious reasons cannot show without tipping off my opponent (BvB) with my deployment. The VVS recon flights mentioned above are real. So is the buildup! China did indeed communicate with the ingame messaging system its wants and needs in their struggle against the Japanese.

question is, is the build up offensive or defensive? When Poland fell it was defenseless and there was a fear of Soviet attack to grab terrain that wasn't defended

"Dawn of the Revolution" has more news for you now (turn 3):

The Civil War in Spain ended. The Axis were resounding winners. It's very rare that they don't win, but this one was won surprisingly quick. The weather is clearing up a bit to the south, as mud replaces snow. Not much news to report other than that. Still quite a build-up of forces in the Soviet borderlands toward what used to be Poland. ... and some activity in the Far-East near Vladivostok, as Japanese forces shuffle around.

Probably. But usually it runs a couple of months more anyway.

The News from "Dawn of the Revolution".

This month saw the Annexation (or diplomatical takeover) of Austria by Germany. This has made the German People ecstatic (which means they get a morale bonus of +5). Also happening was that there was an attempted coup (random event) in Thailand. It failed, so the Japanese probably got more Diplomatic Points and Drift there. The Soviet Union also increased both Combat Efficiency and Production this turn.

"Dawn of the Revolution" - we know the truth, and we report it as such. (Turn 5)

This month was relatively quiet on the western border, where the Germans seemed to be happy to just dig in. I did blow a border bridge, just in case. It was a bridge in the Prippet Marshes. More worrisome was the Japanese scouting missions that they are carrying out with Cavalry along the Manchurian/Far Eastern USSR border. Cavalry went so far up as to be within one hex of the Railline connecting Khabarovsk and Vladivostok with the rest of the Soviet Union. Troops were of course shuffled around to show that we are aware of these movements.

Also the Japanese seem to have taken a port, by amphibious assault. Foochow (get your maps out) has fallen. Also the city of Chengchow seems to be in trouble.

Dawn of the revolution, first with the news.

Much as expected, Chengchow fell this turn. The Chinese may be fighting on, but the Japanese are making good progress. There was turmoil in Finland. This means the unrest levels could have led to a coup, if the leading country in diplomatic points had been at war. The results of turmoil is hard to determine. Some major nations will go up in standing and diplomatic drift, some will go down.

European Axis continues peaceful diplomatic efforts while Japan continues its efforts to defeat China
