Hi to All,
I'm not sure if anyone else has reported this problem but as the russian's if I save my turn, quit the game & re-open at a later date. I can do the following

1/ Multiple force marches.

2/ Multiple supply from the governing HQ

3/Units regain readiness (1 unit was at 9% next time it jumped to 33%)

4/HQ's seem to regain OP

5/Units gain entrenchment each time I reload

6/At one stage I had 64,500 odd rail points

Cheers Von Cone-on

P.S. is there a way to get around this I just want to play!!:(

This is the infamous 'double save' bug. The only way to avoid it is not to save mid-turn. How can you know if your opponent is doing it? :rolleyes:That's more complicated. My favourite safeguard is exchanging passwords when the game is done.

AAAHHHAAA!!!

Hi K62
O.K. thanks for that inconvenient but not impossible.

Because the save bug kicks in more often that not for both sides,
SAVING mid turn is cheating and should be not be done.

Of course, there are some who actually agree to allow saves in an attempt to balance the game.

Does this only effect PBEM games?

No I believe that it affects all games ....a bug is a bug

So when do you save non PBEM turns? At the start or the end of the turn, or it doesn't matter as long as you only save it once per turn (and not multiple times per turn).

For non PBEM games you would save at the start of your turn before going to the Orders Phase

I'm not 100% sure but it only seems to be a problem if you save & quit out of the game & then reload the saved game at a later date. As for saving in a PBEM shouldn't you do that after combat phase????

In a game against the AI (non PBEM), once you have selected your Combat Phase, the computer just takes over and does its Order and Combat phase. The first chance to save is when it is finished.

In a game against another human player (PBEM I assume), the save option comes at the end of your Combat phase.

These are the proper times to save.

If you go into your Orders phase and issue some orders, there is a chance that the bug will kick in and give additional production, rail points, operation points, experience gain, etc.

What that chance is and why it occurs I am not sure. I just know that under certain circumctances that the bug will appear and give the extras. Obviously this is not the intent of the game.

There is no problem saving and then finishing a turn in WIR outside of the Secure PBEM games. The way the secure PBEM code was added, not by Arnaud by the way, it reenters the turn cycle at a set point rather than where the turn was saved. Hard to fix, and the solution if finishing a turn in one sitting is difficult is to not play with secure PBEM. There is NO problem saving and quitting when playing the non-PBEM modes. Or if there is, nobody ever reported it and i haven't seen it in my play of non-PBEM.

So Rick, if I am understanding you correctly,

To avoid the "save" bug in a secure PBEM game

The first player could chose the appropriate scenario, Both Human, and the appropriate balance. At the end of the turn, then save the game when the opposing side's Option Menu appears. Then forward the files in an email. Then the second player would chose Saved Game, Both Human, and the appropriate balance.

But this would expose the opportunity to view the opposing side's position from the menu.

A guess a level of trust is required in both circumstances.

Will I got to say if I had to pick between someone looking at my side or someone useing this cheat, not hard to pick witch one I would pick. Its not like if someone looked at your side they would gain a big advantage like in many games. You can even think of the looking as special intel that is not covered in the game like the russain spy network in Germany or German air recon or special forces recon.

I agree, and it you can't trust your opponent why play? The secure PBEM mode is not close to perfect anyway, it just makes some parts of cheating more difficult but not impossible. I know PacWar had the same problem as the same Matrix programmer added the same code to it and it apparently was fixed, so I think it can be fixed, just hard for someone not familiar with all the ins and outs of the secure code.

I think, but I´m not sure, that if someone saves "cheating", then the Allied Air Attacks appears before time; and when Allied Air Attacks are in course, they occur two times.

You can experiment playing a PEBM game against yourself, in both sides and without moves. Try to cheat... and please, say the results in the forum.
