Soft Build option

I played my first game of SC WWII as Japan (the long one I have posted about before).

At some stage in that game, I switched to 'soft build' because I wasn't able to build any new units. When I did so. I was able to build new units again (at an increased cost) and they were available for deployment immediately.

Now playing as Germany. Again I switched to 'soft build' because historically the game wouldn't allow me to build any more tanks. This time, the cost of building 'soft build' units seems to be reduced (can't really confirm that but it seems to be the case). Also, the newly built units are not immediately deployable. For eg, just created a Garrison unit and instead of being able to plonk it on the map straight away, I have to wait a month before doing so. For more complicated/powerful units the wait time is longer.

Have the rules changed since I played the first game? I apply game patches when they are available. Did a patch change what happens when you select soft build?

I'm not complaining because magically creating units out of thin air for immediate deployment seemed unrealistic. I'm just unsure why the the change has occurred.

Hi Wobbleguts,

As far as I know nothing has changed, e.g. the soft build limit penalties should be the same from the first time you played and there has always been a deployment delay on purchases, e.g. this has not changed or does not change whether you select 'Soft Build Limits' or not, unless of course you de-selected the 'Production Delay' option which is located right above the 'Soft Build Limits' option.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Thanks Hubert,

I think I must have switched off production delay in my Japan game (which I didn't in this one). This of course would explain the change.
