Just Picked Up This Puppy!

Post by rkr1958 »

I pick this game up last Friday (9/18/2020) and have casually been going through the manual and playing through the tutorial (section 4). I must say what I've seen so far I like very, very much.

I was, several years ago, heavily involved over in the Slitherine forum/site in the development, testing and play of Commander Europe at War - Grand Strategy (CEaW-GS) mod.

For the last few years I've been playing a lot of MWiF and currently have (another) AAR going.

I must say that SC WWII WOW is bringing back a flood of memories and similarities with CEaW-GS, though the later only covered Europe and North Africa. I like having all the theaters and I'm most impressed by the map and unit graphics/interface.

Happycats has graciously taken me under his wings to help me learn this game by thoroughly trouncing me.
Hopefully, the thorough trouncing will only be initially. After that I strive for just getting trounced (less thoroughly though). [:D]

Happycats was one of my partners in crime back in the old CEaW-GS days, in fact, even before then; i.e., before we started making the game engine mods. Before that it was the BJR-mod (Borger-Jim-Ronnie) which was played with the original CEaW game engine using map and unit edits/mods and a lengthy set of house rules.

By the way I retired 6-months ago and living the dream where I can wargame almost much as I want without worrying about having to get up and go to work in the morning. [:D]

Also, I would like to give a shout-out to any, if they are any here, old CWaW-GS developers, testers and opponents.

Welcome! I've played some games from the Commander series - especially C:TGW - but for modability and game play I think the StratCom series just about edges it!
American Front: a Work-in-progress CSA v USA Turtledove mod for SC:WW1 can be seen here.

Mmmm. Technically she's more of a panel-owner than a plank-owner. But I wouldn't be picky either. [:D]

Oh, and welcome aboard rkr1958. I hope you enjoy your new puppy. [:)]

Thanks guys for all the warm welcomes!

Question if I may. Are all picture uploads on this forum limited to 200KB or less? Even in the AAR section?

I've answered my own question. Apparently there is no such 200KB limit to posting picts in the AAR section.
