Air interception

Hi,

I attacked the German fleet in port with two groups of CVs and two more attacks by another air unit. The fighter that was located in the hex (the only one in range) flew for air combat during all four attacks. Is it not supposed to be limited to 2 flight per turn? Or are there some exceptions?

It's only 2. You sure it wasn't other air sups?

Hi Alvaro,

Yes, I am sure, there was no air support as it was 4 air-naval attacks (against navy in port). It was the same German fighter name in all four air combat (and it was the only German air unit even close).

Sorry, but we stopped that game, so I can send no proof [:(]

On another note,

Damascus (Syria Vichy is allied with Allies) was still supplying all UK units in Africa (it is a main supply source) so the UK do not need any port for their units. I thought the latest patch was supposed to fixe this but it does not seem to have done so. No in our game anyway.

It was in the stopped game, so I still can send no proof for this one either...[8|]

This can happen. See the combat result graphic from this thread where the same Ftr unit intercepts 7 different attacks in one turn.

This is all the SAME combat.

That's all part of supply interdiction which is different than normal air operations. It doesn't count for Opts. It is an automated process. Yall asked for an option on this to separate it which I am still thinking about.

I'll double check.

Hi Alvaro,

There was no supply interdiction. It was 4 successive air attacks on an Axis fleet manually done by me (two attacks from two groups of CV that got close that same turn and two other from a far away strategic bomber). The German fighter was atop the fleet it was protecting and the fleet was a mixed fleet (Italy and Germany) in port. Could the mix of nationality cause a bug?

It was however the only time it happened. I bombed Germany a lot and no German fighter flew more than twice. I'll keep an eye open to see if I spot it again in other games.

Thanks

Could be the CV combat sequence isn't using interceptor Opts

im struggling with similar issues.

i have three fighter squadrons covering a port, but the enemy keeps naval bombing it, and the fighters don't intercept. last turn i lost another carrier.

none of the three sqns did any other fighting, and they are all set to full support?

Hi Boldairade,

Other than a bug, it could be (from what I experienced myself in various games) :

-Weather : fighters are in bad weather but fleet and bombers are in good weather
-Low readiness
-Unit too reduced in strength

For the last 2, the support triangle would show red. But now in my games when it happens and I do not understand at first, it usually is the weather.

need 50%+ strength and 50%+ effectiveness or there about. I forgot the exact # Also support mode. Move your ships man, build AA.

thanks guys. i was unaware of the readiness/step rules. those make sense.

the third sqn was in good order but on malta, so very likely in bad weather.

lesson learned, thx for the responses.
