Resources: Padang

Another newbie question. In Padang on Sumatra there are less than 400 resources at the start of the game. A day later there is an influx of resources (over 600) which I believe come from the adjacent hex. My question is: how much in the way of resources and fuel can be transferred per day to Panang from other bases? I don't see any RR connections but there are some roads.

Don't worry about them at all, Padang resources are useless to the Allies, and to Japan too. Allies ship ready-made supply, Japan gets resources from other places
In general, resources tend to flow to the largest reachable port, but the speed and amount are hardcoded and unclear

But if you are Allies, by shipping the resources to someplace like Australia, the Japanese won't get them. But remove excess supplies first. The only Allied place that I think that needs resources imported is Oahu. Maybe New Zealand as well.

Thanks guys for the strategy thoughts. I get the strategy differences fairly well. I am trying to understand the numbers and how to plan for the influx of resources (or other materials) that arrive via non-convoy techniques to places like Padang.

The resources, and oil tend to flow to place that need them or from where they are being loaded for transport elsewhere.

Do you mean that if I am picking up resources from Padang each turn the amount of resources that flow to Padang will be greater than if I don't pick any up? Are you also saying that there is no way to know how much of a particular item (resources/fuel/oil) will flow to a port from other places?
Does oil flow to ports that ship fuel or only those that ship oil?
I am just trying to understand the mechanics of the game. It is really a part that I enjoy.

Yes
Yes
Both if being used, otherwise it will flow to a refinery or largest port.

OK I will just consider it a bit of automatic FOW.
Thanks

You really should be looking up my very detailed answers previously given.

Again disabuse yourself of creating a spreadsheet.

Nor, in respect to your OP, railways or roads needed for movement. They weren't part of the Ho Chi Minh trail during the Vietnam war so don't assume that capability was invented by the North Vietnamese. Read page 189 of the manual, which surprise surprise is sub headed Overland Movement.

Don't fall into the trap of believing that all game relevant information on a particular issue is found in a single section of the manual. Usually you have to bring together and synthesis multiple sections to get the full answer to an AE question.

Well, you could just try to load resources on ships at Palembang and hope for the resources from Sumatra interior to slowly migrate to Palembang.

The resources will migrate to Palembang but the dock space there is better used by tankers.

To be sure. My using Padang was simply to follow the mechanics of loading the resources given the size 1 port and limited docking size and rates. I have all I need on the subject thanks to the responses.
