Looking for some information from Cold War Helicopter Pilots

We are looking for information on operational use of helicopters when on a mission and confronted with bad weather (heavy rain, dense fog, or even sand storms) that compromise visibility (no sensors or sensors not able to work in the conditions). What happens to the mission underway? Do you press on, land, RTB or something else? Do you break from NOE flight or terrain masking?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I knew a pilot who was in the Army during the 70's and 80's who flew helos including the Cobra. I asked a friend who I still keep in contact with who knows the pilot well if he can contact him.
